Senator George McGovern died on October 21, 2012 at the age of 90 – collect one of the Senator’s signed books here…

While most remember him as the candidate who lost the Presidential election of 1972 by the largest margin ever, Senator McGovern was as distinguished in his early and later life, as he had been politically.

During WW II he was a B-24 Liberator pilot, flying 35 missions over German-occupied Europe.  Among the medals bestowed upon him was a Distinguished Flying Cross for making a hazardous emergency landing of his damaged plane and saving his crew.

Which made this quote of Senator McGovern’s all the more compelling: “I’m fed up to the ears with old men dreaming up wars for young men to die in.”
